General Admission Requirements
Admission Requirements for Undergraduate Degree Programmes:

A. Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME)

Admissions into the undergraduate programmes of the School will be based on JAMB criteria. These include five credits in WASC (SSCE), GCE or NECO in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in not more than two sittings.

B. Direct Entry
(i) Candidates holding three GCE (A/L) in Biology, Chemistry and Physics plus O/L credits in five other subjects including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.
(ii) Transfer from other Faculties of the University
(iii) A B.Sc. degree in relevant Sciences discipline.

DEPARTMENT OF ANATOMY

A. Admission Requirements For The Four-Year Full-Time Degree Programme (UTME)
Candidates seeking admission into this Programme should possess any of the following qualifications:
At least five „O level Credits passes in WASC, WAEC; SSCE/GCE, NECO/SSCE or any other recognized equivalent at not more than two sittings. The Subjects should include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

NOTE: Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) subjects are:
(a) Use of English
(b) Physics
(c) Chemistry
(d) Biology

B. Admission Requirements For The Three-Year Full-Time Degree Programme (Direct Entry)
In addition to A above, candidates who posses any of the following qualifications may be considered for admission;
(i) Three Advanced level passes in GCE or HSC or any of their equivalents at not more than two sittings. Subjects are Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Zoology
(ii) At least a Second Class Lower Degree from a recognized University in any of the following:
(a) B.Sc. Biological Sciences (Biochemistry, Microbiology, Zoology, Botany)

DEPARTMENT OF MEDICAL BIOCHEMISTRY
A. Admission Requirements For The Four-Year Full-Time Degree Programme (UTME)
Candidates seeking admission into this Programme should possess any of the following qualifications
At least five „O level Credit passes in WASC, WAEC, SSCE/GCE, NECO/SSCE or any other recognized equivalent at not more than two sittings. The Subjects should include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Candidates seeking admission into this Programme should possess any of the following qualifications:

A. Admission Requirements For The Five-Year Full-Time Degree Programme (UTME)
Candidates seeking admission into this Programme should possess any of the following qualifications:
At least five „O level Credit passes in WASC, WAEC, SSCE/GCE, NECO/SSCE or any other recognized equivalent at not more than two sittings. The Subjects should include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

B. Admission Requirements For The Four-Year Full-Time Degree Programme (Direct Entry)
In addition to A above, candidates who possess any of the following qualifications may be considered for admission:
(i) Three Advanced level passes in GCE or HSC or any of their equivalents at not more than two sittings. Subjects are Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Zoology.

(ii) At least a Second Class Lower Degree from a recognized University in any of the following:
(a) B.Sc. Biological Sciences (Biochemistry, Microbiology, Zoology, Botany)

(iii) Candidates who have completed the first professional qualification (AIMLS/AMKSCN) of the Council of Medical Laboratory Science of Nigeria, in addition to the requirement for the five-year degree programme.

(iv) Candidates who have HND Lower Credit Level from a recognized institution, in addition to the requirements for the five-year degree programme
(v) Candidates who have Medical Laboratory Technicians Professional Diploma Certificate.

DEPARTMENT OF NURSING SCIENCES

A. Admission Requirements for the Five-Year Full-Time Degree Programme (UTME)
Candidates seeking admission into the B.N.Sc. programme of the Department of Nursing, College of Medical Sciences, University of Benin, must satisfy the general entry requirements of the University as well as the minimum entry requirements for the B.N.Sc. programme as stipulated below:
1. Senior Secondary School Certificate or its approved equivalent with credit in English language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at not more than two sittings with a relevant pass in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

NOTE: Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) subjects are:
(a) Use of English
(b) Physics
(c) Chemistry
(d) Biology

B. Admission requirements for the Four-Year Full-Time degree programme (Direct Entry)
Candidates must satisfy the above minimum requirement for admission, except the UTME requirement.
In addition, candidates must have any of the following:
a. Registered Nurse (RN) certificate registrable by Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
b. General Certificate of Education at advanced level, or its approved equivalent, with passes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
c. First degree in Life Sciences from University of Benin and any other recognized University approved by Senate.
d. A relevant pass in the Post Direct Entry Examination (PUDE)

3. Inter And Intra University Transfer

Transferring students from other science departments in University of Benin at 200 levels must attain a minimum CGPA of 4.00 points.

DEPARTMENT OF PHYSIOTHERAPY
(A) Admission Requirements into Five year Full-Time degree Programme (UTME)
(i) Candidates for admission into the programme must have a minimum of five (5) credit passes in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and English Language at Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE), or General Certificate of Education (GCE „O Level), or National Examination Council (NECO) Certificate or the equivalent in not more than two sittings.
(ii) In addition to the above, the candidate must have acceptable score in the University Matriculation Tertiary Examination (UTME) conducted by JAMB.

NOTE: Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) subjects are:
(a) Use of English
(b) Physics
(c) Chemistry
(d) Biology

(b) Admission Requirements into Four year Full-Time degree Programme (Direct Entry)
(i) Candidate for direct entry, in addition to the above ordinary level credits, must have passes in Chemistry, Physics and one other Sciences subject at the Advanced Level of General Certificate of Education (GCE „A Level) or its equivalent.
(ii) Graduates with a minimum of second class lower division in the relevant physical and biological sciences like Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Zoology, Optometry and Botany from recognized universities can be admitted.

DEPARTMENT OF RADIOGRAPHY
A. Admission Requirements For The Five-Year Full-Time Degree Programme (UTME)
Candidates seeking admission into this Programme should possess any of the following qualifications:
At least five „O level Credit passes in WASC, WAEC, SSCE/GCE, NECO/SSCE or any other recognized equivalent at not more than two sittings. The Subjects should include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

NOTE: Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) subjects are:
(e) Use of English
(f) Physics
(g) Chemistry
(h) Biology

B. Admission Requirements For The Four-Year Full-Time Degree Programme (Direct Entry)
i) Biology is not a compulsory part of the Matriculation requirements for Direct Entry. Candidates for direct entry, in addition to the above listed ordinary level credits, must have passes in Chemistry, Physics and one other Science subject at the Advanced Level of General Certificate of Education (GCE „A Level) or its equivalent.

ii) Candidates with Diploma Certificate in Radiography from other recognized Universities with a minimum of upper credit level pass may be considered for direct entry admission.

iii) Graduates with a minimum of second class lower division in the medical, physical or biological Sciences from recognized Universities may be considered for direct entry admission.

SCHOOL OF DENTISTRY
DENTISTRY
A. Admission Requirements For The Six-Year Full-Time Degree Programme (UTME)

Candidates seeking admission into this programme should posses any of the following qualifications:
At least five O level Credit passes in WASC, WAEC, SSCE/GCE, NECO/SSCE or any other recognized equivalent qualifications at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Note: Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examinations (UTME) subjects are:
a) Use of English
b) Physics
c) Chemistry
d) Biology

B. Admission Requirements For The Five-Year Full-Time Degree Programme (Direct Entry)

In addition to A above, candidates who possess any of the following qualifications may be considered for admission:
(i) Three Advanced level passes in GCE or HSC or any other recognized equivalent qualifications at not more than two sittings. The subjects are Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Zoology.
(ii) At least a Second Class Lower Degree from a recognized University in any of the following:
a) B.Sc. Biological Sciences (Biochemistry, Microbiology, Zoology and Botany)
b) B.Sc. Medical Sciences (Anatomy, Physiology, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science).
c) B. Pharm (Pharmacy) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D).
d) B.Sc. or OD Optometry.

NOTE: All prerequisite O/L and A/L subjects must have been obtained before matriculation for the required degree qualifying you for Direct Entry Admission.
